2nd International Boxing Tournament with Energomontaż-Południe
Last weekend, i.e. from 3rd to 5th September 2010, the hall of the Kleofas sports club in Katowice hosted the 2nd amateur International Boxing Tournament for the Cup of the President of Katowice. 80 competitors representing 19 sports clubs, also from the Czech republic and Ukraine, entered the tournament. Energomontaż-Południe SA was one of the event sponsors.
Fighters representing the "06 Kleofas Katowice" club managed to achieve a great success. The were ranked first in the team classification defeating the Ukrainian team and the boxing club from Jaworzno.
Among 14 fighters from Katowice who entered the tournament, 13 advanced to the finals. There were 6 individual boxing competition winners.
One of those who deserved special attention was a heavy-weight boxer, Michał Świątkowski, who broke his arm at the end of the 1st round of the final fight against the representative of Concordia Knurów and yet persisted until the very end to finally win the match. In recognition of the display of his boxing skills, he was announced the best boxer of the tournament.
